How does YourPrivateVPN work?
Every time you use the Internet, your computer communicates under a unique address, called an IP address, which identifies you. YourPrivateVPN is an anonymization service, offering an anonymous and encrypted connection to the Internet. Your IP address, which is assigned to you personally by your internet service provider (e.g. AOL), is replaced by an IP address from the YourPrivateVPN network. The Internet sites that you visit thus recognize only the IP address of the YourPrivateVPN server and not your own personal IP address.
As you might know, your internet provider can find out at any time, which web pages you visited or which files (pictures, films, music files) you downloaded. However, if you use YourPrivateVPN, all your traffic is encrypted, so your provider cannot know, which web pages you visited or what you did while you were there.
Here a VPN service is clearly superior to the proxy servers, which do not use this encrypting technology. VPN uses the PPTP (POINT to POINT Tunneling Protocol). This Protocol is already installed in Windows XP, Vista and other operating systems. The advantage is that you do not need a new program installation. In a few steps you establish your VPN connection.
Every time, when you use the VPN connection, all programs that communicate through the internet are anonymous: Email, Emule, MSN Messenger and many others more.

When do you need a VPN Connection ?
Access from other countries - countries with internet censorship - international users - ex-patriates
- Certain governments, that want to deny users the benefit of a complete internet access, cannot intervene, if you surf with an IP from the Netherlands.
- Easy online purchases, when you are travelling – many purchase forms in the Internet automatically block certain countries, when you try to order.
- Geographical blockings for certain Websites are getting more frequent, for music sites and others.
- You receive an anonymous connection for all programs, you use. (ICQ, email, ftp, news and everything that uses an Internet connection) This would not be possible with a proxy server.
- Total anonymous surfing in the internet
Access from offices and other places with reduced or controlled internet use:
- Use it, if you don't want the boss to read certain emails,
- or if Skype or MSN or other web pages are blocked at your job,
- or if you assume that the web pages, you access, are logged.
- Using open or public WLAN's much of your traffic can be seen by the neighborhood, but can be protected by YourPrivateVPN.
