Windows 7 L2TP/IPSec Setup

  • Click on Windows Start (bottom left corner)
  • Click on Control Panel
  • Click on Network and Internet
  • Click on Network and Sharing Center
  • Your screen should look similar to this

1. Choose Use My Internet Connection

2. Input your settings: Internet Address: CLICK HERE TO CHOOSE A CONNECTION LOCATION
3. Destination Name: L2TP VPN (or whatever you want to put here).
IMPORTANT: Click on the option "Don’t connect now; just set it up so I can connect later".
4. Click "Next"

5. Enter your Username and Password.
6. Click "Create"

7. Click "Connect to a network" now that you are back at the Network and Sharing Center.
8. In the pop-up window double click the new created connection.
9. Click "Properties"

10. Click "Options"

11. Uncheck "Include Windows logon domain".
12. Click "Security"

13. Choose (L2TP/IPSec) for "Type of VPN".
14. Click "Advanced"

15. Select "Use preshared key for authentication" and enter "YourPrivateVPN" as key.
16. Click "OK" twice

Connecting and Disconnecting

To connect click on the wired/wireless symbol in the systray, and click on newly created connection and click "Connect".
To disconnect follow the same steps to connect just click on the disconnect option.
